IOCL INFORMATION

Hello Everyone,

Well, as I informed you all yesterday, the dates for IOCL have been shifted.. IOCL will give its ppt on 5th June (Thursday) and the interviews will be on 6th June (Friday). Yes, there will be no Aptitude test..

So how are they gonna select candidates for interview? (Obvoiusly they cannot interview everyone, obviusly not..) Well, based on their rules, IOCL will shortlist some candidates for the interview..

Hey people,

Its the placement season going on, and a thought strikes to me a lot of times.. I think what will happen when this placement season gets over.. The coodinator in me will be lost and I will be back to normal Aniket.. But I dont want to loose these times I have spent..

As I have been too busy too blog my memories, I decided I'll take my memories from my classmates.. I would request you all (I aint forcing any1) to write me a feedback or rather a testimonial of whatever you think about me as co-ordinator, be it +ve or -ve.. Rest assured, it wont bring in any change in my attitude towards you all, and no1 except me will read it..

I want you to all write anything you want to, be it good or bad.. Be it the previous company or be it the 1st one.. If possible, please write me one after each company.. I would like to collect as many memories as possible at the end of the day, because ultimately this is the only thing I can claim I have been working for..

If possible, please use Nirma Tut Pages to standardize and use both the sides.. for assignments we all would borrow the tut pages, so please do the same now if you dont have.. And if u cant arrange 1, please feel free to give me the feedback on any kinda page.. Hard copy will be appreciated, however one can mail me the soft copy at aniket@ehindustan.com

Essar is coming for campus placements on Tuesday d 27th May..
Everyone must reach by 8.45 (u may come by bus).. The ppt starts at 9sharp and no one late will be allowed in..

Eligibility:10th and 12th : 60%
PPI : 6.5 (ppl having PPI between 6-6.5 pls come, u may be allowed)
IF's : No Live IF (I dont think anyone now has a live IF, but if you have come, maybe you'll allowed..)
Bdate: on or after 1 May 1986

Coordinate with your Coordinator

Hello Everyone, please read this very carefully..

It has been quite some time since our placements have started and we already have 22 of our friends placed.. Although not bad, the no could have been better.. I am constantly trying to improve the results with every company, but I need everyone to help me do that.. Here is what I want you want to understand and do for me..

First of all, to all my close friends.. Please dont look for that Aniket Agrawal in your coordinator.. Your friend Aniket and Coordinator for Chemical are two different persons.. If I act as your friend and show any softness towards you, its your and others loss too.. Whatever I am doing here is for the best interests for our class mates only.. So I want you all to understand and support me instead of getting upset with me when I dont react in expected way.. I am not getting emotional, but preventing myself from getting weak.. Thanks for your support, and please continue to extend it to me.. :)

I want everyone of you to first realize that whatever I am doing is only for your benefits.. I am not gaining anything by sacrificing my personal life.. No, we are not reimbursed our phone bills, nor our travel expenses nor any compensation for our time and efforts.. The only reward we Coodinators get is the smile on those faces when they hear that they have been selected.. We get more joy than the one's placed.. So please bear with me if I am rude to you sometimes, or am not telling you something.. Its for your benefit only..

Please also note that I expect you all follow whatever I tell you to do.. Many a times, we need that whatever information I tell you, is not supposed to go out of the class or between us two.. Infact, some students (I cannot tell name/branch, please dont ask me) have suffered problems due to this.. And I dont want any of our class mates having any kind of such troubles.. So please make onething clear, whatever I tell you should not go outside Chemical, even if you have a very close friend and he/she may be very reliable, I dont want you to tell them anything you are not supposed to.. Leave the habbit of gossiping, may land you or someone else in trouble.. And many a times I might ask you to keep it between us two, please don't discuss it even with your parents or brothers/sisters. Between Us two means between us.. Hope you got it..

And most important, if you want your offer letter, make sure you treat me nicely else you will land up jobless without an offer letter.. I am serious, please dont take lightly.. Are, I am actually serious, its not a joke.. ;)

Much awaited Good and Bad News..

Hey People, you all have been wondering what is this good and bad news.. Some have scratching their head regarding this while some have been scratching mine for it.. :) Well, here it comes...

GOOD NEWS:

IOCL (Indian Oil Corporation Limited) is mostly going to come to Nirma.. It is for the 1st time in Nirma's History that a Public Sector will come (if it comes), and guess what??? The package will be 6L+.. yes, you read it right.. 6+..

Sounds too good too digest, here's the tough part.. If it comes, mostly it will be open to the students of all branches and mostly for all those also who have been placed.. SO, the COMPETITION WILL BE TOUGH, VERY TOUGH.. So all those aiming for the sky, start preparing to launch yourselves.. Good Luck..

BAD NEWS:

Chill, it's only for those who have not been attending the ppt's regularly despite of my repeated notices.. A class's unity is a very important factor in determining the class's performance and unfortunately, not all the ChemLites have been succesful in showing that.. I have been regularly insisting everyone to come to attend the PPT's and leave b4 the apti with my consent.. But still, the response has not been very positive.. The result, Sachin Sir is upset with us and may affect the placements for us which I cannot tolerate due to some students..

I had a talk with Sir, and he has strictly asked me not to allow such students to sit for companies they want to get placed in till they have a sufficient attendance.. Those already placed and failing to show up, will not be given their offer letters.. Boss, this is no joke, we are very serious.. I am sacrificing my personal life to place you all, and I wont allow a bunch of careless people to spoil my efforts.. If you are not interested, please tell me.. I will cancel your registration, but please dont waste my efforts like this.. Everyone having low attendance, I want to see you in PPT's irrespective of your location of training and stay in touch with me..

Sorry if I am being rude, but I haven't even started showering the anger within me.. I am not scaring you, but just warning you.. Get serious towards your class activites, or bear the loss..

Tech Mahindra coming Tom

A good news for you.. Finally Tech Mahindra is confirmed and is coming Tom (22nd May '08 - Thursday)..

The eligibility criteria is 10th and 12th - 60%, 6.25 PPI, max 1 live IF and max 1 year break in studies for whatsoever reason.

Please be there at college by 8.00 am latest.. All those not interested also have to strictly come for the PPT atleast and meet me b4 leaving regarding the Apti..

INFY RESULTS

The results of InfoSys have been declared:

Manvi Sharma, Priya Dwiwedi, Shruti Samant, Dhairya Kinariwala, Utkarsh Thakare and Hardish Patel..

Hearty Congratulations to them..
Will this, the total no Placed in Chemical goes to 15.

Although no seems to be good, 5 companies have come averaging 3 per company..
Frankly, I am not satisfied with the results.. From now onwards I would expect atleast 80% ppl clearing apti and 100% of them getting placed in the company..

In InfoSys, 100% (all 6) who cleared apti got selected in Apti cleared the PI's and thats what I am happy about, so I give you 21 days holidays upto Sunday Night.. :)

2. No Live (Pending) I.F. or ATKT or NT

3. Atleast 60% in 10th and 12th.. (However you may have 55% in either 10th or 12th..)

As you might have recd the message, Cognizant (CTS) is coming to Nirma tom for their placements.. All those interested, please make a note of the same and be ready..

Neverthless, the whole class will have to attend the ppt as attendance starts marking from tom..

Those really interested in the company, please bring along 3-4 Photos, 2-3 copies of Resume, your marksheets, certificates, etc. etc. reqd for any placement..

People,

It is expected that in the next week (say by 19th - 20th May), three-four core companies may come.. Please note that nothing is confirmed as of now, I am just telling you what is expected.. So, all those aiming for Core Companies, please make sure that you are ready and available to come to Ahmedabad on a short notice if needed..

I will try my level best to inform you all well in advance and early as possible, but I cannot declare anything till Sir officialy tells me anything..

For the prep, mostly all Writtens and PI's are technical, so open your old and new books, and start revising your basics and get your minds working..

Start Practising About for Your Aptitude and Skills

People,

It is high time we all get serious regarding our career. Two companies have already come and a bunch more lined up in near future.. But the problem is that neither the company nor III cell is satisfied with the results..

It is with great sadness I have to tell that Sachin Sir has warned me for Chemical Dept results and the lack of seriousness of the students.. If we dont show results in next two-three companies, he seriously wont invite any chemical companies.. And trust me, he is really upset and can do what he says..

We are there to help you, but cannot force you to do something.. We cannot help you unless you coordinate with us and come from front with ideas as of how to help you..

As coordinators, we are to coordinate with III cell and Students, but we dont have any responsibility of working for you so hard and get no results.. We work to see fruitful results, but it seems you all are taking our efforts for granted and taking the placement thing too lightly.. Trust me, if this scenario continues and Sir is not convinced that our batch has the potential, you might be searching for ads in papers for Off-Campus placements..

I am not trying to scare you or something, but making you aware of the grave trouble we may land ourselves in deep trouble if we do not get serious and perform well to get better results.. All those who have some ideas to increase the general aptitude and technical skills of our class mates, please please come and share with us and we will go to all extents possible to help in whatever way we can.. As coordinators, we are supposed to coordinate, not take the liability of your placements without your involvement..

Hope this will awake you all and will save us all from unwanted troubles..

Placement Registration Form and Resume

Hey,

As you all might have received the placement form and know what to do with it, I would just like to mention one change in the procedure. Please submit three sets of the form.
i.e., fill the form and make 2 photocopies. Make 3 photocopies of the receipt and attach one with each and then submit me by 13th May latest. For the fees, just walk in Account Section with your I-Card and 400 Rs and submit the same and take the receipt.

For the resume, please submit me the resume in the latest format by tomorrow morning 2pm.. That is 2pm on 9th May..

TCS PPT and Aptitude

For the aptitude, please refer sample aptitude test papers.. You can find some at www.freshersworld.com or just look at the ads at side and top, and you'll find some links to sites that can help you prepare for aptitude..

TIPS FOR TCS APTITUDE

From other colleges, it seems that TCS aptitude test will be an online test, and this will be mostly the format of the test.. Please go through it and solve some sample aptitude papers.. Thist time, the competition is gonna be tough, very tough as we have to compete with a very large mass..

I suggest everyone to go through all the papers at http://www.freshersworld.com/placementweek/company.asp?cid=108 you can and to solve questions rather then mugging up the answers because the values do change and some of the answers provided here were even wrong (very few though). If you can solve these papers, around 20 atleast, there is no need of solving RS Aggarwal for TCS atleast.

For the verbal section, if possible please go through barron's high frequency words, model test papers and learn all the previous paper synonyms and antonyms, additionaly learn more words for the words already put up in past papers.

Lastly for critical reasoning do all the passages from Barron's 12 edition model test papers. My friends told that they had the same questions, some even had whole of the three passages as same.

For the written, please concentrate maximum on aptitude and then critical reasoning and lastly synonyms/antonyms. But dont leave any section completely because you never know they might put up sectional cut-offs.

Get Serious about your Placements!

Hey Friends,

Well you all must know that this time a lot of IT companies are not going for mass recruitments and taking very selected no of Freshers.. The scenario this time is very bad.. Dont expect any company to take mass recruitment this time (although if we are lucky, we may see one)..

And with Comp and IT people competing with us, its gonna be very tough.. So please please get serious about Campus and start practising for Aptitude and PI.. Use some of the links on these page at the sides/top to go through some sample Aptitude Questions.. Also, as of now, TCS is the only IT company coming to Nirma.. Means some others might come, but none has confirmed till now..

And for the people not considering the IT companies for Core Companies, please consider the fact that Core Companies are very difficult to crack and you might have seen that L&T also took just 3.. So, please choose your decision wisely..

Summer Training News

This is to inform all the students of semester 6 of 05BCH batch that those who had applied for training in companies, have to submit a NOC letter from the Company in which they want to do the training by this 10th May'08.

On 10th May, Deepak Sir will give some kits required for the training programme, so please collect it from him then..

Also, those students who have not applied in any company by themselves, please attend college on 12th May..

Please note that a meeting is held on this Wednesday (7th May '08) in A-Audi at 1pm sharp..

The meeting is to give general instructions about the placements and any questions you have regarding the placements... The Maestro - Sachin Sir will be himself there to give the instructions and solve any queries you all may have..
